June Meeting Report

This was not a good meeting to miss! Good food, interesting topics and a great "Show and Tell" by the Central VA Gold Prospectors. President Nan Holt called the meeting to order & after pizza & salad, members enjoyed a brief history of gold mining in Buckingham County. Jack Wyatt, Pres of the CVGP, gave the history and showed some of the equipment that is used by members of his group. We then went outside and watched a demonstration of the actual panning.

Next we heard a brief presentation by Susan Davis, Membership Sales Representative for PHI Air Medical which is now operating helicopter service out of Farmville Airport. She left brochures and offered Chamber members a corporate rate for this service, which seemed most reasonable. Ms Davis will return to our August meeting with a member of the PHI Medical team.

Melissa Louis gave a brief report on the June 14th Event at the Historic Village. Hank Hagenau invited interested parties to attend a meeting of the Tourism Committee at Depot Diner on Wed, June 18th at 6pm.
