April Meeting Report
The Chamber met on Tues, April 15th at the squad building. Twenty-seven attendees and guests were present.
Kathy & Joyce Gormus of Kathy's Kitchen and Venus Powers of the BCAC were first time attendees. The
meal was provided by Kathy's Kitchen. A motion was made and passed to donate a new fax copier to the
Rescue Squad as a Thank You for allowing us to hold our monthly meeting at the building.
After the introduction and announcement period, Hank Hagenau gave a brief overview of his vision of
the Chamber's new Tourism Committee. He shared the need for business and civic organizations to come
together to promote all that we have in Buckingham.
Our speakers for the evening were John Jamison & Jayne Johnson from the Farmville Habitat for
Humanity. Ms Johnson shared information about who qualifies and how homeowners are chosen. Then Mr
Jamison told about the Dillwyn Habitat house and it's progress.
The Chamber donated $50 to the Farmville Habitat for Humanity in honor of the speakers.
Show and Tell Volunteer for the May Meeting is Venus Powers of Buckingham Arts Council.

Winner of Best In Show Trophy by popular vote was Dennis Taylor !
Annual Pet Contest
A Success !
President, Nan Holt coordinated the annual Pet Contest during Buckingham County Day. Winner of the
contest was "DAWG", a collie-shepherd mix, owned by Pat Lankford of Cumberland. Dawg won over 13
other entries - all dogs !
Show and Tell
A popular new feature of our meetings is Show and Tell. Chamber members are offered an opportunity to
bring their products & give a more in-depth look at their businesses.
New Project

Food for Thought
After a visit from Brian LaFontaine, President of the Scottsville Chamber, several Buckingham Chamber
members attended one of Scottsville's Business After Hours Events. This gives the members a chance
to network & socialize more than just a regular meeting. If you would be interested in hosting
at your location, please call 983-2372 for details.
