April 2008March Meeting ReportA Full House! That was what we had at the March meeting, which was called to order by Pres. Nan Holt. After dinner & introduction of members, we held Show & Tell in the Squad lobby. This month's participants were Christa Ragland of Heaven Sent Book Keeping and Tax Service and Dr Powell Anderson of the Andersonville Animal Clinic and Ostrich Ranch. After their interesting presentations, we reconvened in the meeting room for the Treasurer's report, new members, old business and new business. VP Faye Shumaker introduced Brian LaFontaine, President of the Scottsville Chamber of Commerce. Brian shared the progress and the hurdles that Scottsville has faced during the Streetscape Project. He hopes the project will be completed in 6 to 12 months. Scottsville has been fortunate to have received grant money and to have raised $200,000 as their portion of funds to match the grant. Brian also shared that the Scottsville Chamber has an Economic Development Committee and also a Tourism Committee within the Chamber. His Chamber has approximately 96 members and their dues are scaled $25 for an individual, $35 for a small business and the top of the scale is $125 for a business with more than 5 employees. Every other month they hold an After-Hours gathering and then they have a business meeting every month.
