March 2008February Meeting ReportPresident Nan Holt presided over our Feb meeting, with 25 members & guests present. After dinner Faye Shumaker introduced our speaker, Ganesh McIssac. Mr McIssac gave a very interesting talk on the Distribution Center at Yogaville. They package & distribute books to Health Food Stores all over the East Coast. They employ people from the community as well as from the Yogaville Community, itself. Show & Tell businesses for the evening were Buckingham Furniture Repair & Restoration - Sammy & Melissa Smith and The Wood-chuck, Joe & Joyce William. Both companies provided examples of their work. The Smith's raffled off a chair with members receiving free chances. Teresa Shannon of Dr Saxon's Office was the winner! Mr McIssac chose the Chamber members who plan to pick up trash to be recipient of his speaker's honorarium. Motorcycle ShowThe Dillwyn Dairy Freeze and the Chamber plan to coordinate the first Motorcycle Show on Saturday, April 12 4pm - 7pm. Watch for news in the Herald and local flyers. 2008 Guidebookshave been mailed to most Buckingham County homes & businesses. In some instances, people who receive their mail through post offices outside of the county such as Appomattox, Farmville may not get one in their mailbox. If you do not receive one, please pick up your copy at Moss Motor Company, Inc, Dillwyn Town Hall or the Buckingham Co Library. Revised MapsThe Buckingham Co maps, complete with corrections, will be reprinted in the very near future. There were 44 advertisers on the first map. These will have the opportunity to advertise on the 2nd edition at a discounted rate. Any Chamber member that did not advertise on the 1st map, may place an ad listing on the 2nd edition for $100. Dues2008 dues are now due. Many of you have already paid. Remember if you have a star * by your name on your mailing label, it means you have paid for 2008! The Chamber Board voted to sponsor a $100 hole in the May 3rd Golf Tournament to benefit the new Ellis Acres Park in the planning stages in Dillwyn. We're urging other to participate in this worthwhile project. March MeetingSpeaker will be Show and TellA popular new feature of our meetings is Show and Tell. Chamber members are offered an opportunity to bring their products & give a more in depth look at exactly what they offer.
