January Meeting Report

The 6th Annual Chamber Awards Banquet was held at Cactus Jax on Monday, January 21st.

A large crowd was on hand for the Dinner and Silent Auction. Among the unusual items in the auction were a cell phone holder & money clip of ostrich leather furnished by the Dr Anderson of the Andersonville Ostrich Ranch.

President Nan Holt presided over the meeting. After dinner Faye Shumaker presented the Volunteer of the Year Award to Rescue Squad member, Jimmy Strong. There was a possibility that he would miss the presentation because he was on a call to UVA, but he made it to the dinner just in time! Several of his squad associates attended to see him receive his award.

Tom Dennison, representing the Ruritan Club, presented the Buckingham Achievement Award to Helen Saxon. Helen's contributions to Buckingham are many and we are proud to have her as a member of the Chamber.
