2007 In Review

January - 5th Annual Awards Banquet held at Cactus Jax - honoring Joe & Mary Gemski as Volunteers of the Year and Bill Davis with the Achievement Award! We welcomed Virginia National Bank, Langston's Market & Hill & Davis, CPA.

February - The Chamber donated $250 to Historic Buckingham to help match a grant.

March - Our 2007 Guidebook was mailed to homes and businesses in Buckingham. We welcomed Real Estate III & Duck's Renovations to our membership.

April - Several of our members conducted the Animal Fair in conjunction with Straight Street on their property.

May - Along with members of the BNN, the Chamber distributed Guidebooks & maps.

June - The Chamber cooperated with the Garden Club on a Garden Tour.

July - Annual Chamber Picnic held at the home of Helen Saxon.

August - First Annual Car Show held at the Dillwyn Dairy Freeze! Great success with 30 vehicles! We welcomed new members - Kate Higgins Quarter Horses, The James River Inn & The Town of Dillwyn.

September - Kenneth P Bryant & Lizzie Jones were selected as 2007's Buckingham's Best Grandparents at Heritage Hall. New Chamber members were Melissa Moss - Agent Coldwell Banker Lafoon Realty, JT Diversified Services & Tyson's Contracting & Excavating.

October - Nan Holt moved into the president's position vacated by Patti Throckmorton. Faye Shumaker is the new Vice President. New members were and Melissa & Sammy Smith of Buckingham Furniture Repair & Restoration and Janet Miller. Our new Vice-President started a "Show & Tell" feature for our members to display their products.

November - Our monthly meeting was held November 20th. Speaker was Ted Lloyd, developer with Atlantic Investment Co. The group was able to present a wish list for new county businesses. Show and Tell businesses for November were Marty & Randy Martin of Buckingham Bloomin' And Robert & Regina Taylor, new owners of Dillwyn Garden Center.

Annual Chamber Awards

Don't Miss The 6th Annual Awards Banquet. MONDAY, January 21st 6:30 PM at Cactus Jax in Arvonia.

This is the only meeting during this year that there is a charge of $10 per person. Tickets in advance at Moss Motor Company or at the door. Please RSVP to 983-2372 for a head count?

The Volunteer of the Year Award is given to a person who has gone above and beyond the call of duty & deserves to be honored for their service in the past year.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is for a person or a couple who have given of themselves over the years.
