October Meeting Report

The Chamber met Tuesday, Oct 17th for the annual cook-off. Although the crowd was light, the Mexican Theme Dinner was excellent. The winner was Wanda Albrecht with a Mexican dip with sour cream and chips. (Our winner always receives a free membership for the following year.)

After the meal, we divided into 4 workgroups. Joe & Mary Gemski led the Scrapbook group. Nan Holt and her guest, Kristen Queen led the Spring Animal Fair group, Marty Martin headed up the group in search of a mascot for the Chamber and Jewel Harris led the Holiday House Tour group.

Patti Throckmorton, president of the new Buckingham Neighbors Network gave a report on the first BNN event - Coffee Talk. Approximately 20 people attended the event and several paid their $10 annual dues to join the BNN. Next the group will hold a covered dish dinner at Mulberry Grove Church on Nov 10th.

Christmas House Tour to feature 8 homes

Mark your calendar for Sunday, Dec 10th 5pm - 8pm. A bus will be available again this year. Tickets go on sale Nov 16th - Moss Motor, Foster Tire - $15.

to submit the name of that Volunteer of Buckingham County that you consider to have done an exceptional job in 2005. All it takes is a one page entry telling why you think someone should be selected. Mail the entry in to BCC, P O Box 951, Dillwyn, Va 23936 or fax to 983-4891 prior to December 31st. It only takes a few minutes to honor one who does so much.

In addition, if you know of someone who has served in Buckingham for many years, perhaps you would nominate that person for the Buckingham Achievement Award.

These two awards will be presented at the Annual Chamber Awards Banquet on Jan 15 at Cactus Jax.

Chamber members to solicit small items for the Silent Auction on Jan 15th at our Awards Banquet. This is a fun event for members and offsets the cost of the Awards Dinner.
