November 2005 NewsletterOctober Meeting ReportThe Chamber met at 6:30 on Oct 18 with 16 members present. The Annual Cook-Off was held with a great assortment of food. Tony Martin introduced Lon Stockton and Bill deWindt of MoonStar who were our speakers. Lon spoke on the importance of having a website and Bill spoke on ways of filtering unwanted emails (spam) and protecting yourself against viruses. Marty Martin gave a report on the last 05 Farmers Market scheduled for 10/21 with the first tricycle race to raise money for CrimeSolvers. A brief discussion about the way the western part of Virginia has solved illegal dumping and trash clean-up. Winner of the Cook-Off was Bill Smith, Cumberland Bulletin, our newest member. We're hoping for the recipe. Runner-up was Patti Throckmorton, (who doesn't cook!). NEW MEMBERSCOPC Farmers' MarketThe final market was held on October 21st. In spite of unpleasant weather, Buckingham County Deputies showed up for the tricycle races! Races were held between Captain Darrell Hodges, Deputies Bo Jamerson, Arron Harris, Joel Abernathy, Jay Hensley & Doug Gregory were all good-natured participants with other officers present for encouragement. $100 was raised for CrimeSolvers. Board of DirectorsThe BOD met on Nov 7 at Heritage Hall. RememberThis is your LAST Newsletter of 2005. There will be no regular Monthly meeting in December. Get Your Ticket TodayThe First Annual Holiday House Tour takes place from 5pm until 8pm on Sunday, December 11th. Tickets will be $15 (in advance). If you know of someone who does not care to drive, there will be a school bus leaving Moss Motor Company at 4:40pm. Seats on the bus will be $5 with 30 seats available.
