February Meeting Report

The Chamber met Tuesday, Feb 17, 2004 at Heritage Hall. Spring Fling was discussed with decision to give $100 worth of gasoline at the Spring Fling Prize. Hank Hageneau gave a Planning Commission report and asked all members present to please consider coming to the Planning Commission meetings. Hank was appointed to the Commission to represent the James River District at the February Board of Supervisors meeting.

Sheriff Danny Williams spoke briefly on the reinstatement of the Crimesolvers Tip Line. Motion was made and passed that the Chamber donate $500 to CrimeSolvers to help restart the group. Discussion was held on future fundraisers for this project.

David Whitehurst, Director of Wildlife Diversity, Dept of Game & Inland Fisheries spoke on established and proposed wildlife trails in Va. He gave facts and figures and told of the increase of tourists since 9/11, who spend money on things an area has to offer and then return home. He brought books to share on the trails.

The group enjoyed club sandwiches from Town Mini Mart and outstanding desserts were brought by Helen Saxon, who reminded us it is time for trash pick-up on the west- bound land of Rt 60.

The Search Is On !

Vendors, Bakers and Candlestick makers - as well as growers! If it's grown or made in Buckingham, the Chamber wants to feature it at the Farmers' Market. Held on each Friday, beginning April 23rd, at the County Industrial Park. And as an added benefit to county residents, the Chamber offers non-profit groups the opportunity to come on the 2nd Friday of each month and conduct fundraisers. (Raffles, bake sales, cookbook sales, etc).

Please pass this on to the other organizations and to your churches.

Clock Presented

The Chamber presented a slate clock to Heritage Hall. Faye Allen, Director of Admission accepted the clock from Nan Holt, Chamber Board member. This was a small token of thanks for all the years that Heritage Hall has allowed us to use their facility.
