Buckingham Court House is on the National Register of Historic Districts. The current courthouse building (pictured left) is based on a design by Thomas Jefferson and was rebuilt in 1873 after the original Jefferson designed courthouse was destroyed by fire in 1869. Stroll around the Courthouse square and read about the process of uncovering the original courthouse on the signs which Jamestown 2007 along with the County of Buckingham helped to place there.
